This proposal seeks to find a balance between the charming low-rise character of Laurel Park and the neighborhood’s potential to accommodate a denser model of housing with unequaled access to downtown Sarasota.

Each 1,025 square foot 2-bedroom 2-bathroom unit is designed to economize space. While the proposed square footage is considerably smaller than the typical new single-family houses in the Laurel Park neighborhood, garden and deck terraces are envisioned as  “exterior rooms” that take advantage of Sarasota’s favorable climate and expand the square footage of each unit.

The site plan balances built-up space with pockets of private and communal landscaped areas to create a condition of “gentle density.”
